Step 1: Requirement Gathering

Before choosing software, document what's actually broken in your current process — is it inventory visibility, GST filing delays, or disconnected departments? A clear requirement list prevents paying for features you'll never use and missing ones you actually need.

Step 2: Vendor Selection

Compare vendors on three things: whether they've built ERP for businesses your size and industry before, what ongoing support looks like after go-live, and total cost including customization — not just the base license price.

Step 3: Process Mapping

Document your current workflows exactly as they happen today (not how they're supposed to happen on paper). This becomes the blueprint the ERP is configured around, and surfaces informal workarounds staff use that the new system needs to account for.
