Key takeaways

  • An advocate's website in Bahadurgarh is an information page: Rule 36 and its 2008 proviso limit it to name, contact details, enrolment details, bar council and bar association, qualifications and areas of practice.
  • The Bahadurgarh Judicial Complex in Sector 12, near Balour, has civil, magisterial and family courts, so a factual court page should name only the courts you actually attend.
  • Industrial, property and Delhi-border work can appear only as plain areas of practice and accurate directions, never as sales copy aimed at factories or Delhi residents.
  • The Bar Council of India's July 2024 directive on online portals and a reported July 2026 social media circular make the passive, factual approach even more important.

What should an advocate website in Bahadurgarh do?

An advocate website in Bahadurgarh should help a person who already has your name confirm who you are, which courts you attend and how to reach your chamber. It should not try to win new clients, because the Bar Council of India's rules do not allow an advocate to advertise or solicit work.

Bahadurgarh is a city in Jhajjar district that sits on the Delhi border, commonly called Tikri Border, about 31 km from the district headquarters. It is also the headquarters of Bahadurgarh tehsil, which lists 46 villages and was part of Rohtak district until Jhajjar district was formed in 1997. A practice here can draw clients from the town's sectors, from those villages, from the industrial estates and from Delhi itself.

That mix shapes the site. A worker from an industrial estate, a family with a matrimonial dispute and a Delhi resident with property in the tehsil all need the same few facts, quickly, on a phone. Planning a website for an advocate or law firm here means getting those facts right, and leaving out everything that sells.

What is the Bar Council of India's current position on advocate websites?

Rule 36 still forbids advocates to solicit work or advertise, directly or indirectly, and a 2008 proviso still allows a website limited to particulars set out in a Schedule. As of October 2026 we found no change to that rule, but the BCI has tightened enforcement online since 2024.

Rule 36 sits in Part VI, Chapter II, Section IV (Duty to Colleagues) of the Bar Council of India Rules; its text is reproduced by the Bar Council of Delhi. The proviso, quoted by itatonline.org, permits website information "as prescribed in the Schedule" and treats anything beyond it as a violation. The Schedule covers your name, address, phone and email, enrolment number and date, the State Bar Council and bar association, professional and academic qualifications, and areas of practice.

  • July 2024: after a Madras High Court ruling, the BCI told State Bar Councils to start disciplinary proceedings against advocates advertising or seeking work through online portals, and sent notices to the portals.
  • March 2025: the BCI cautioned against promotional videos, celebrity and influencer endorsements and the use of digital platforms to solicit work, as reported by MediaNama.
  • July 2026: a BCI circular dated 17 July 2026 on social media use, reported by SCC Online, bars social media use for advertising, solicitation or client acquisition, warns against fabricated client testimonials and AI-generated or deepfake content, and allows responsible legal awareness content that is not misleading, promotional or sensational.

This post explains website planning. It is not legal advice. Before you publish, confirm the current position with the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana.

How should the site describe the Bahadurgarh court complex?

Name the Judicial Complex in Sector 12 correctly and list only the courts in it where you actually appear. A client travelling from a village or from Delhi should know where to go and which court to ask for.

According to the District Court Jhajjar, the Bahadurgarh sub-division complex stands near village Balour in Sector 12, about 30 km from Jhajjar. It has eight courtrooms, five of them functioning. The courts listed there are an Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division)-cum-SDJM, a Principal Judge, Family Court, and three Civil Judges (Junior Division)-cum-JMIC. A Family Court of an Additional District and Sessions Judge also sits at Bahadurgarh on Thursdays and Fridays. Check the court's own site before you publish, since postings and court arrangements change.

Court at BahadurgarhHow the website can mention itWhat to avoid
Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-JMIC"Civil and criminal matters at the Bahadurgarh courts"Claims about bail or acquittal outcomes
Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division)-cum-SDJMListed under the same court page, without extra wordingImplying special access to any court
Principal Judge, Family Court"Matrimonial and family matters" as an area of practicePhrases like "quick divorce" or promised timelines
Family Court (ADJ), Thursdays and FridaysOnly if you appear there; link to the court site for sitting daysTyping sitting days that may change

If you also appear at the Jhajjar Judicial Complex, where the sessions division is headquartered, list it as a separate line. Our Jhajjar advocate website guide covers a site that presents both complexes together.

How can a Bahadurgarh site reflect industrial and property work?

List the work as plain areas of practice, and keep place names for the chamber, directions and court pages. Writing copy aimed at factory owners or plot buyers turns a permitted particular into solicitation.

Bahadurgarh's industrial areas include MIE-I, MIE-II and HSIIDC Sectors 16 and 17, and the town also has a footwear park, as described on Wikipedia. Advocates here may handle labour, recovery and contract matters for workers or employers, along with property, tenancy and revenue work connected to the town's sectors and the tehsil's villages. Those are legitimate areas of practice. The website may say so plainly, and nothing more.

Permitted wordingWording that crosses the line
Labour and employment matters"Factories in MIE, call us for any labour dispute"
Cheque dishonour and recovery matters"Recover your dues within weeks, assured"
Property, tenancy and revenue matters"Expert for every Bahadurgarh plot dispute"
Commercial and contract mattersClient lists or logos of companies you act for
Matrimonial and family mattersReviews or quotes from former clients

Do not name clients, even with permission, and do not describe cases you handled. Under the reported July 2026 circular, case details also raise confidentiality concerns, not only advertising ones.

Can a Bahadurgarh advocate's website mention Delhi courts and clients?

You may list Delhi courts if you genuinely appear there, but the site should not invite Delhi residents to hire you. The difference is between stating where you practise and soliciting work.

Section 30 of the Advocates Act, 1961, which gives an enrolled advocate the right to practise in all courts across India, was notified with effect from 15 June 2011. An advocate based near the Tikri border may therefore appear in Delhi's district courts, such as Rohini, Tis Hazari or Dwarka, or before the Delhi High Court. List a Delhi court only if you appear there regularly, and show the State Bar Council on whose roll your name stands, which for most local advocates will be the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana.

  • Courts page: Bahadurgarh first, then any other complexes in the order you attend them.
  • Directions page: your chamber address, a map pin on the actual chamber, and the route from the border.
  • Metro: if clients come by the Green Line, name the nearest station exactly as on the metro map, such as Bahadurgarh City (Bus Stand) or Pandit Shree Ram Sharma, and give a walking time you have checked yourself.
  • Hours: chamber hours you actually keep, and a note that court days may change them.

Short, neutral explainers on procedure are generally treated as acceptable, provided they do not promote you or promise results. As reported, the July 2026 circular describes responsible legal awareness content and neutral case-law updates as permissible when they are not misleading, promotional or sensational.

  • How to check case status and the next date on the official eCourts services, with a link rather than copied data.
  • What a Family Court mediation or counselling session involves, in general terms.
  • Which documents a person usually keeps ready before meeting an advocate about a property matter.
  • A plain glossary of court terms in Hindi and English.

End each page with "This is general information, not legal advice." Do not add a "contact us to win your case" line; a plain link to the contact page is enough.

Keep explainers dated and review them when a law changes. An outdated page can mislead a reader, which is exactly what the circular warns against.

How can a Bahadurgarh advocate be found on Google without soliciting?

Be accurate and consistent: one Google Business Profile for a real chamber, the same name and address on your website, and a court page that names the Bahadurgarh complex. People searching your name or the court should find correct facts.

Google's Business Profile guidelines treat lawyers as individual practitioners and ask for the real-world name, without keywords. Use your name as it appears on your name-plate.

  1. Create a profile only for a chamber you staff at stated hours, not for the court building.
  2. Write practice areas in the same plain words as your website.
  3. Do not ask clients for reviews, and do not show reviews on the website.
  4. Do not pay online portals or agencies for listings or leads; the BCI's 2024 directive targets advertising through such portals.
  5. Do not boost posts or run ads that point to the site.

Our Google Business Profile guide explains the setup; for advocates, apply only the parts that stay within these limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a Bahadurgarh advocate mention the Family Court on the website?

Yes, if you appear there. Listing "matrimonial and family matters" as an area of practice and naming the Family Court at the Bahadurgarh Judicial Complex in Sector 12 are factual particulars. Avoid phrases such as "quick divorce" or any promised outcome, and never describe a client's case. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can my website mention MIE or the HSIIDC industrial sectors?

Use place names for directions, for example to explain how to reach your chamber from the industrial estates. Do not write copy aimed at factory owners or workers, such as inviting units in MIE to contact you, because that reads as solicitation. Labour and employment matters can appear as a plain area of practice.

Can a Bahadurgarh advocate list Delhi courts on the website?

Yes, if you genuinely appear there. Section 30 of the Advocates Act has allowed enrolled advocates to practise across India since 15 June 2011. List Delhi courts, such as Rohini or Tis Hazari, only where you appear regularly, and show the State Bar Council on whose roll your name stands.

Did the BCI's July 2026 circular change the rules for advocate websites?

As reported, the 17 July 2026 circular applies existing duties, including Rule 36, to social media rather than rewriting the website proviso. It bars advertising and solicitation on social platforms, warns against fabricated testimonials and deepfakes, and allows responsible legal awareness content. Keep the website to the permitted particulars and check with your State Bar Council.

Should I list my practice on paid legal directories or lead portals?

It is safer not to. In July 2024 the Bar Council of India asked State Bar Councils to act against advocates advertising or seeking work through online portals, and sent notices to several portals. A factual website and an accurate Business Profile for a real chamber are the conservative route. This is not legal advice.
