Key takeaways
- Build one Search campaign around the areas your team can reach, using a radius or a list of localities, with Presence targeting so far-away searches do not trigger calls you cannot serve.
- Split ad groups by job: AC repair, AC service, gas filling, installation and uninstallation, with split and window AC named in the ads and pages.
- Schedule the call asset for the hours someone answers the phone, and let budgets rise and fall with the heat instead of staying flat all year.
- Turn on call reporting, set a sensible minimum call length and match booked jobs back to ad groups, so you know which searches bring paying visits.
What does a working Google Ads setup for AC repair look like?
A working setup is a Search campaign limited to the areas your technicians can reach, split into ad groups for AC repair, AC service, gas filling and installation, with a call button that shows only in working hours, a firm negative keyword list and call tracking. Budget then moves with the weather.
AC searches are urgent. A family in a warm flat on Sohna Road at ten at night types “ac repair near me” and calls the first business that looks local and reachable. So the campaign is mainly about phone calls and WhatsApp chats, not website visits. For account basics, see our step-by-step Google Ads guide.
- Create a Search campaign targeting only the area you can cover on the same or next day, with Presence targeting.
- Build ad groups by job (repair, service, gas filling, installation and uninstallation) plus a local-area group.
- Write responsive search ads that repeat the search and state one honest trust point.
- Add a call asset scheduled to your staffed hours, and location assets if you have a Google Business Profile.
- Add a starter negative keyword list for jobs, courses, buying, second-hand and DIY searches.
- Send each ad group to a landing page about that exact job, with call and WhatsApp buttons at the top.
- Turn on call reporting and conversion tracking, then test every call and form yourself before trusting the numbers.
Which ad groups should an AC repair campaign have?
Give each job its own ad group: AC repair, AC service and cleaning, gas filling, installation and uninstallation, plus a group for local area searches. Name split and window AC inside each one, or give them separate groups once you have enough searches.
Grouping by job keeps the keyword, the ad and the page saying the same thing: someone searching for gas filling wants to read about leak checks, not every service you offer. Replace the Gurgaon localities below with your own.
| Ad group | Example keywords | What the landing page should cover |
|---|---|---|
| AC repair (urgent) | ac repair near me, ac not cooling repair, ac technician near me, ac repair service gurgaon | Common faults you fix, how fast a visit can be arranged, call and WhatsApp buttons |
| AC service and cleaning | ac service near me, split ac service at home, ac jet service, ac cleaning service | What a service visit includes, how long it takes, how to book a slot |
| Gas filling | ac gas filling near me, ac gas refill, ac gas leakage repair | Leak check before refilling, how the charge is worked out, what the customer gets in writing |
| Installation and uninstallation | ac installation near me, split ac installation, ac uninstallation, ac shifting service | Wall and outdoor unit fitting, pipe and stand work, moving an AC when shifting house |
| Split AC | split ac repair, split ac indoor unit water leakage, split ac service gurgaon | Split-specific faults and services, photos of real split units you have serviced |
| Window AC | window ac repair, window ac service, window ac installation | Window-specific work, including removal and refitting |
| Local areas | ac repair sohna road, ac service dlf phase 4, ac repair sector 56 gurgaon, ac mechanic south city | The localities you cover named in the heading, with your base and working hours |
Split and window AC deserve their own groups when both get regular searches in your area, so the ad can say exactly “Window AC Repair”. If one type is rare, keep it inside the job groups and mention both in the ad text. Start with phrase and exact match for control, and widen once calls are tracked.
Google’s responsive search ads page allows up to 15 headlines of 30 characters and 4 descriptions of 90 characters, and says pinning is not recommended for most advertisers. Mix headlines that repeat the search (“Split AC Gas Filling”), one honest speed point (“Technician Visit Today”, only if true), one trust point (“Written Estimate Before Repair”) and one action (“Call or WhatsApp to Book”).
How should AC repair ads target areas and radius?
Target only the area a technician can reach in reasonable time, either as a radius around your base or as a list of sectors and localities, and choose the Presence setting so people outside that area do not trigger calls you cannot serve.
Google Ads lets you set location targeting by country, city or region, or as a radius around an address: in the campaign’s Locations settings you choose Radius, enter the centre address, then the distance and unit. The same page warns that a very small location may mean ads show only intermittently or not at all. If your ads stop showing after you tighten the area, our guide to a campaign with no impressions walks through the checks.
Google’s advanced location options page says “Presence or interest” is the default, reaching people who have only shown interest in your locations too. “Presence” suits most AC repair work: someone in another city rarely needs a technician in Gurgaon today. Test the wider setting only if bookings for relatives’ homes are worth the extra out-of-area clicks.
| Targeting option | Suits | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Radius around your base | A single team working outward from one workshop or store | Traffic does not follow circles: a short distance across a busy highway can take longer than a long one on open roads |
| List of sectors and localities | Teams that cover clear zones, such as DLF phases, Golf Course Road and Sector 29; run a campaign per zone to pause one when that team is booked | Very small areas can limit delivery, so group neighbouring localities together |
| Whole city | Larger teams that can reach most of Gurgaon | Calls from far corners that you then turn away, which still cost a click |
When should AC repair ads and the call button run?
Let search ads run when people search, but show the call button only when someone will answer. Outside working hours, send clicks to a page with a WhatsApp button and a booking form that says when you will call back.
By default, campaigns show ads all day, according to Google’s ad scheduling page, and you can choose specific days and hours or raise and lower bids for them. Call assets add a call button under your ad on mobile and a “Call us” button on desktop, and in the asset’s advanced options you can set the days and hours it appears, so your number shows only when your business takes calls.
If you still run call-only ads, plan to move away from them. Google’s call ads page says options to create new call ads were removed in February 2026 and existing call ads stop receiving impressions in February 2027. The replacement is a call asset on responsive search ads.
| Time window | Search ads | Call asset | What the visitor should be able to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your staffed hours | On | On | Call, WhatsApp or book a slot |
| Evening after the office closes | On, if you can visit next morning | Off, unless a technician takes calls | WhatsApp or book a morning slot, with the callback time stated |
| Late night | Optional; test with your own data | Off | Leave details for a callback when the office opens |
| Sundays and holidays | Match to whether you work | On only if staffed | Book a visit for the next working day if closed |
If calls go to one mobile, schedule the call asset around that person’s hours, not the office’s.
How should AC repair budgets follow the season?
AC repair and service searches tend to rise as it gets hot and fall in cooler months, so plan the budget in phases: warm up service and installation before summer, push repair at the peak, and trim spend in winter. Use the dates in your own call log rather than a fixed calendar.
| Phase | What people tend to search for | What to do with the account |
|---|---|---|
| Before the heat | Pre-season service, cleaning, gas check, new AC installation | Raise service and installation groups; promote booking a slot early |
| Peak heat | Not cooling, repair near me, gas filling, urgent visits | Give repair and gas filling groups the most budget, keep the call asset staffed, pause groups when the team is fully booked |
| Humid months | Service, cleaning and indoor unit water dripping, as many homes keep ACs running | Keep service and repair running at a steady level; check search terms for new problems people describe |
| Cooler months | Uninstallation, shifting, servicing before the AC is covered up | Lower budgets; keep installation and uninstallation groups and local area groups ticking over |
Two Google facts matter here. First, a budget is an average: Google’s budget page says a campaign might spend up to twice its average daily budget on a given day, with a monthly limit based on that average. On a very hot day the campaign may spend more than you expect, and on a cool day less.
Second, Google’s seasonality adjustments for Smart Bidding are, per the help page, ideal for short events of one to seven days and may not work as well beyond fourteen days, because Smart Bidding already accounts for many seasonal patterns. A whole summer is not a short event: change budgets and ad groups instead.
- Budget to capacity: never pay for more calls than your technicians can visit.
- Pause by job: when installation is booked out for the week, pause that group and keep repair running.
Which negative keywords should AC repair ads block?
Block searches that mention AC but are not service customers: job and training seekers, people buying a new or second-hand AC, spare part and DIY searches, and car AC or other appliances you do not repair. Keep words like “charges” that real customers use when comparing.
| Theme | Example negative keywords | When not to add it |
|---|---|---|
| Jobs | job, jobs, vacancy, hiring, salary, ac technician job, ac mechanic vacancy | Only if you advertise your own hiring in a separate campaign |
| Courses and training | course, training, institute, classes, certificate, pdf | Never needed for a repair campaign |
| Buying a new AC | buy, showroom, emi, sale, offer, new ac price | Skip if you also sell new ACs and send those searches to a sales page |
| Second-hand and scrap | used ac, second hand ac, old ac buyer, scrap ac | Skip if you buy old units |
| Spare parts and DIY | remote, compressor price, spare parts, how to, diy, video | Skip “spare parts” if you sell parts with fitting |
| Car AC | car ac, car ac gas, car ac repair | Skip if you service car AC |
| Other appliances and rentals | cooler, ac on rent, rental | Skip any you actually offer |
Google’s negative keywords page explains two details that shape this list. Negative keywords do not match close variants, so add singular and plural forms separately: “job” and “jobs” are two entries. And negatives have their own match types: a negative broad keyword blocks searches with all its words in any order, negative phrase blocks the words in that order, and negative exact blocks only that exact search.
Be careful with price words: “AC service charges” or “gas filling rate” usually come from real customers. Judge them by your search terms report, not guesswork.
What should an AC repair landing page show?
A page that matches the ad group, puts call and WhatsApp buttons at the top, lists the areas you cover, explains how visit and repair charges work, and lets someone book a slot in a few taps on a phone.
- A heading that repeats the search: “AC Gas Filling in Gurgaon” for the gas filling group, not a generic home page.
- Call and WhatsApp buttons visible without scrolling on a phone.
- Areas served: the sectors and localities you visit, and your base.
- Split and window AC: which types you handle and what each service includes.
- How charges work: whether there is a visit or inspection charge, when the customer gets an estimate, and that work starts only after they agree.
- Working hours and what happens if someone books after hours.
- Real photos of your technicians and vans, not stock pictures.
- A short booking form: name, phone, area, AC type, problem and preferred slot.
The charges point is also a policy point. Google’s Misrepresentation policy lists failing to clearly disclose the full expense a user will bear, pricing that gives a false impression of the cost, and promising offers in the ad that are unavailable. An ad saying “free service” next to a page that asks for a visit charge creates exactly that problem. The same policy calls implying support from a brand you are not affiliated with egregious, with suspension on detection and without prior warning, so never present yourself as an authorised service centre unless you are one. If your site cannot do this job, see our website development in Gurgaon.
How do you track AC repair calls as conversions?
Turn on call reporting so calls from your call assets are counted, set a minimum call length that filters out wrong numbers, track calls and WhatsApp taps from the landing page separately, and match booked jobs back to ad groups in your own records.
- Calls from ads: Google’s measure calls from ads page says you need a call or location asset with a verified phone number and call reporting turned on. New calls are then counted under a default “Calls from ads” conversion action.
- India is supported, with a caveat: India is in the country list on Google’s call reporting page, which notes that on some calls in India the caller ID shows a Google number rather than the customer’s.
- Set the minimum call length: Google can judge call quality from call recordings, but the same help page limits call recording to calls where both parties are in the US or Canada. For an Indian AC business, the minimum call duration you set is what decides which calls count.
- Calls from your website: Google can track calls to a number on your website by showing a forwarding number to visitors who came from an ad.
- Tap-to-call, WhatsApp and forms: count button clicks (intent, not a completed call or chat) and form submissions on the thank-you message, never on page load.
- Booked jobs: note which calls became visits and which ad group they came from.
After setup, make a test call from the ad preview, tap the WhatsApp button and submit a test booking, then check each one appears in Google Ads before you rely on the reports.

Frequently Asked Questions
What keywords should an AC repair business use in Google Ads?
Use keywords that name the job and the place: “ac repair near me”, “ac not cooling repair”, “ac service near me”, “ac gas filling”, “split ac installation” and searches with your localities. Put each job in its own ad group with a matching landing page, start with phrase and exact match for control, and add negatives for jobs, courses, buying and DIY searches.
Should AC repair ads run 24 hours a day?
Not with the call button. Search ads can run when people search, but schedule the call asset only for hours when someone answers, because a missed call from a paid click is usually a lost job. Outside those hours, send clicks to a page with WhatsApp and a booking form that clearly states when you will call back.
Can I still create call-only ads for my AC repair business?
No. Google’s help page on call ads says options to create new call ads were removed in February 2026, and existing call ads stop receiving impressions in February 2027. Add your phone number to responsive search ads as a call asset instead, and set its days and hours in the asset’s advanced options to match when your team takes calls.
How should AC repair businesses handle seasonal demand in Google Ads?
Plan budgets in phases using your own past call dates. Raise service and installation groups before summer, give repair and gas filling the most budget in the peak heat, and lower spend in cooler months while keeping installation and local groups running. Never buy more calls than your technicians can visit, and pause individual ad groups when a team is fully booked.
Does Google’s consumer technical support policy affect AC repair ads?
Check it before you launch. Google’s policy says technical support for consumer technology products by third-party providers is not allowed, and its examples include hardware repair services, so mobile, laptop and computer repair fall inside it. The page does not name ACs or home appliances. Keep ads and pages free of tech-support wording such as “tech support”, “software installation” or “data recovery”. A disapproved ad can be edited for re-review or appealed.
How much does Google Ads cost for AC repair?
There is no fixed figure, and no one can promise a cost per call. Cost depends on how many businesses bid on the same searches in your area, the season, how wide your targeting is, your ad and landing page quality and your schedule. Tight area targeting, firm negative keywords and pages that match each job usually make the same budget go further.
