Key takeaways
- Gurgaon is spread across 115 sectors, so design admission and transport pages around the areas your families actually come from.
- CBSE schools must place the Appendix IX Mandatory Public Disclosure at a prominent place on the website, so it belongs in the main menu, not a hidden PDF.
- Under the DPDP Rules 2025, a child's data needs verifiable parental consent, which affects admission forms and photo galleries.
- Google removes reviews for schools serving ages 6 to 18, so your website has to carry the proof parents look for.

What do Gurgaon parents look for on a school website?
Parents in Gurgaon want quick answers to five questions: is the school near us, is there a bus, when do admissions open, what does the board result look like, and is my child safe there. A good school website design puts those answers within one or two taps on a phone.
The city is large and spread out. It is divided into 115 sectors, from the older city and the DLF City phases to Golf Course Road, Cyber City, the new sectors along the Dwarka Expressway and the areas towards Sohna and Manesar. A family in a Golf Course Road apartment and a family in a new sector off the Dwarka Expressway are searching for different things, even when they look at the same school.
Most of them will compare several schools in one evening, usually on a phone. That changes what the design has to do:
- Show distance and transport early: parents ask "do you have a bus to our sector?" before they ask about the curriculum.
- Make admissions obvious: classes open, age criteria, dates and the enquiry form should sit on one clear page.
- Publish what the board requires: CBSE parents increasingly open the disclosure page to check affiliation, results and teacher details.
- Prove safety without oversharing: CCTV, transport rules and visitor policy reassure parents; children's names and faces need care.
Which pages should a Gurgaon school website have?
Plan the pages around the questions parents and staff ask most often, then design the menu so each one is a single tap away. The table below is a practical starting point for a CBSE or Haryana Board school; a play school can drop the board pages and keep the rest.
| Page | What it answers | Main users |
|---|---|---|
| Admissions | Classes open, age rules, dates, documents, enquiry form | New parents |
| Admissions by area | Bus routes, pick-up points and travel time from a specific sector | Parents searching from one part of the city |
| Transport | Route list, timings, bus rules, tracking app | Current and new parents |
| Mandatory Public Disclosure | Affiliation, documents, results, staff, infrastructure (CBSE Appendix IX) | Parents, CBSE inspectors |
| Academics and results | Curriculum, subjects offered, board results by year | Parents of senior classes |
| Notices and circulars | Holidays, exam dates, PTMs, fee notices | Current parents |
| Gallery and events | Annual day, sports, trips (with consent) | Parents, alumni |
| Contact and map | Address with sector, phone, WhatsApp, office hours | Everyone |
Keep one permanent Admissions URL and update it every year. A fresh page each session splits your Google visibility and leaves old dates live in search results.
How should the design target Gurgaon areas like Dwarka Expressway and Sohna Road?
Create an area page only where you genuinely serve families: a bus route, a pick-up point or a real catchment. Each page should carry facts a parent from that area needs, not the same text with a different place name.
The new residential belt along the Dwarka Expressway is a good example. The road passes Sectors 102 to 113 in Gurugram and became fully operational in June 2025, so many young families there are new to the area and searching from scratch. Towards the south, Sohna sits on the highway from Gurugram to Alwar and has a 2012 master plan of 38 sectors. If your buses run to either belt, a page such as "Admissions for families on the Dwarka Expressway" can list:
- the sectors and societies your bus covers, with pick-up points and approximate timings;
- which classes have seats this session and how to book a campus visit;
- a map from that area to the campus and the main road the bus takes;
- a short FAQ for that area, such as early pick-up times or bus availability for pre-primary.
Link each area page from the Transport page and the Admissions page, and keep the wording natural. One useful page per real route does more for "school near me" searches than ten thin pages that repeat each other.
Where should the CBSE Mandatory Public Disclosure go in the design?
Put it in the main menu or the header, with a matching link in the footer. CBSE's Circular No. 03 of 5 March 2021 amended clause 2.4.9 of the Affiliation Bye-Laws 2018 so that the Mandatory Public Disclosure in the Appendix IX format "shall be uploaded at prominent place on the website".
The Appendix IX format has five parts, and the design works best when each part is its own clear block on one page:
- General information: school name, affiliation number, school code, address with PIN, principal's name and qualification, email and phone.
- Documents: affiliation letter, society or trust registration, NOC, RTE recognition, building safety, fire safety, DEO certificate, and water, health and sanitation certificates, uploaded as self-attested copies by the Chairman, Manager or Secretary and the Principal.
- Results and academics: fee structure, academic calendar, SMC and PTA lists, and the last three years of Class X and XII results.
- Teaching staff: principal, number of PGT, TGT and PRT teachers, teacher-section ratio, special educator, counsellor and wellness teacher.
- Infrastructure: campus area, classroom and lab sizes, internet facility, number of girls' and boys' toilets, and a YouTube link to an inspection video.
Show the text items as a readable table rather than a scanned image, add a "last updated" date, and open documents as clearly named PDFs. A Haryana Board school is not bound by this CBSE format, but publishing recognition details and results in the same tidy way helps parents compare.
How do you design admission forms and galleries for the DPDP Act?
Collect only what you need, ask for consent separately for each purpose, and treat children's photos as personal data. The government notified the DPDP Rules 2025 on 14 November 2025 with an 18-month phased timeline. The Rules require verifiable consent before processing a child's personal data, with limited exemptions for purposes such as education and real-time safety, and standalone, plain consent notices.
In design terms, that means:
- Short enquiry forms: parent name, phone, class sought and area are usually enough at the first step; ask for documents later through the school office or ERP.
- Separate consent boxes: one for being contacted about admission, a different one for using a child's photo on the website or social media.
- Galleries without labels: avoid names, sections and roll numbers on photos, and use group shots unless a parent has agreed to more.
- A visible contact: show who parents can write to about their data, as the Rules expect a clear contact for such queries.
This is general information, not legal advice. Ask your legal adviser how the education exemption applies to your forms and galleries.
What design choices make a school website easy for every parent?
Readable text, strong contrast, described images and a fast mobile layout matter more than animation. Grandparents, busy working parents and teachers all use the same site, often on a small screen in a car park.
- Contrast: the W3C's WCAG contrast guideline asks for at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. Light grey text on white fails this.
- Alt text: the W3C's images tutorial says images must have text alternatives that describe their information; purely decorative images get an empty alt.
- Large tap targets: phone, WhatsApp and "Book a visit" buttons should be easy to hit with a thumb.
- Light pages: compress gallery photos and load them as the parent scrolls, so the admissions page opens quickly on mobile data.
- Hindi and English: if many of your parents prefer Hindi, offer real Hindi pages rather than a machine-translation widget, and link the versions with hreflang so Google treats them as one set.
How do Google Business Profile and reviews work for a Gurgaon school?
Set up a complete Business Profile with the most specific category, but do not plan your reputation around Google reviews. Google's help page says reviews and ratings are removed and disabled for profiles primarily categorised as educational institutions for students aged 6 to 18. Universities, day care centres and swim schools are listed as exceptions, so a play school may be treated differently from a K-12 school.
Google also advises choosing a specific primary category and only a few additional ones. For a school this means:
- the exact category that matches the school (for example a CBSE or pre-school category, if one fits), not a broad one;
- the same name, sector address and phone on the profile, the website footer and the disclosure page;
- photos of the campus, buses and facilities, with no identifiable children unless parents have agreed;
- posts during admission season that link to your permanent Admissions page.
Because K-12 reviews are switched off, the website itself must carry the reassurance parents would otherwise read in reviews: results, facilities, transport rules, safety measures and clear contact details.

Frequently Asked Questions
What pages does a school website in Gurgaon need?
At minimum: Admissions, Transport, Academics and results, Notices, Gallery, Contact, and for CBSE schools a Mandatory Public Disclosure page in the Appendix IX format. Add an admissions page for each area where you run a real bus route, such as the Dwarka Expressway sectors or the Sohna Road side, so families searching from there find useful, specific details.
Is the CBSE mandatory disclosure page compulsory on the website?
Yes, for CBSE-affiliated schools. Clause 2.4.9 of the Affiliation Bye-Laws, as amended by CBSE Circular 03 of 2021, says the Mandatory Public Disclosure in the Appendix IX format shall be uploaded at a prominent place on the school website. It covers general information, documents, results, teaching staff and infrastructure, with self-attested document copies.
Can parents leave Google reviews for our school?
Usually not for a K-12 school. Google's help page says reviews and ratings are removed and disabled for Business Profiles primarily categorised as educational institutions for students aged 6 to 18. Universities, day care centres and swim schools are exceptions. Your website therefore needs to show results, facilities and safety measures clearly instead.
Do we need parental consent to show student photos on the website?
Plan for it. The DPDP Rules 2025 require verifiable consent before processing a child's personal data, with limited exemptions for purposes such as education and safety. A separate photo consent on the admission form, unlabelled group photos and a clear contact for data queries are sensible steps. Treat this as general information, not legal advice.
Should our Gurgaon school website be in Hindi as well as English?
If a good share of your parents prefer Hindi, yes. Build proper Hindi versions of key pages such as Admissions, Transport and Notices instead of relying on automatic translation, and connect the two language versions with hreflang tags. English-medium schools in newer sectors may only need English, so decide from your own enquiry calls.
