Key takeaways

  • ICAI's 2026 website guidelines allow the address of the head office and every branch, so each office registered with ICAI can have its own page.
  • Networks and alliances registered with ICAI may run websites showing their registration number and model, and must keep the member list current.
  • Partner and team pages can carry qualifications, experience areas and passport-style photographs, but no superlatives or awards beyond government or regulator ones.
  • Local SEO across NCR should rest on one accurate Google Business Profile per real office, not virtual offices or keyword-stuffed names.

Why does a Delhi NCR CA practice need a different website plan?

CA website design in Delhi NCR has to handle geography: clients, offices and partners are spread across Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad, and one website must present all of them accurately. A single-office template rarely does this well.

Business is not concentrated in one place. Delhi has old commercial centres such as Connaught Place and Nehru Place, and the Okhla Industrial Estate in South East Delhi. Across the border, Gurgaon has Cyber City and Udyog Vihar, and Faridabad has its industrial sectors along Mathura Road. ICAI itself is headquartered at ICAI Bhawan, Indraprastha Marg, New Delhi. A firm with a Delhi head office and a Gurgaon or Noida branch needs its website to make each location clear.

The rules are the same everywhere in India. Clauses (6) and (7) of Part I of the First Schedule to the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 restrict solicitation and advertising, and the website guidelines in Chapter 3 of the ICAI Code of Ethics, 2026 (Volume I) set out what a site may show. The 13th edition applies from 1 April 2026.

This guide summarises ICAI's published text as we understand it. It is not legal or professional advice; confirm doubts with ICAI's Ethical Standards Board.

How should the head office and branches appear on the site?

Give each office registered with ICAI its own page, with the same facts the Institute holds. Para 3.3.7 (iii) permits the member or firm's address for both head office and branches, with phone numbers and email IDs, and para 3.3.21 requires that website information not be at material variance from ICAI's records.

  • One page per office: full address, landmark, nearest metro station, Google Map, working hours, phone and email.
  • Partner in charge: name the partner who works from that office, with their permitted particulars.
  • Same name everywhere: the firm name with "Chartered Accountants", exactly as registered, on every page.
  • No unregistered offices: do not list a meeting room or shared desk that is not a registered professional address.
  • Office finder: a simple list or map on the Contact page that links to each office page.

Use one template for every office page so visitors in Connaught Place and in Gurgaon see the same layout and the same order of facts. Put the address and map first, then hours, then the partner in charge, then directions by metro and road. When an office moves or a partner changes city, update the office page, the Google Business Profile and ICAI's records together, so that nothing on the site falls out of step with what the Institute holds.

What changes for network and alliance firms in Delhi NCR?

Networks and alliances registered with ICAI may run their own website, but it must show their registration details and only their actual members. ThePrint reported that ICAI's Council approved the changes, including enabling websites for network firms, at its meetings on 10 and 11 December 2025.

  • Display the network's ICAI registration number and state the model adopted: alliance, network or lead firm model (para 3.3.6).
  • Update the site whenever a firm joins or leaves; no information about any entity outside the network may appear (para 3.3.8).
  • Firm-wise details of partners are allowed on a network website (note to para 3.3.7).
  • Member firms may mention affiliation with a network registered with the Institute; the Code does not permit joining networks that are not registered (para 2.14.1.7 (xvi)).

In design terms, a network site works best as a directory: a page per member firm with its offices and partners, plus shared knowledge content, rather than a single brand that blurs who does what.

What can partner and team pages show?

Partner pages can be detailed, as long as every line is a fact from the permitted list. The Code allows the following for partners and staff.

FieldAllowed?Source in the Code
Name, year of qualification, other qualificationsYesPara 3.3.7 (viii)
Area of experience, office and mobile numbers, emailYesPara 3.3.7 (viii)
Passport-style photographYesPara 3.3.9
Languages knownYes, in a write-upPara 3.2.1 (A) (viii)
Existing or past elected positions in ICAI councils or branchesYesPara 3.3.19
Employee names, designations, experience; number of articled assistantsYesPara 3.3.7 (ix) and (xi)
Awards, rankings, "expert" titlesNo, except government or regulator awards in a write-upPara 3.1.3 F
Casual or event photos as profile picturesNo; use passport-style photosPara 3.3.9

Write experience areas plainly, for example "GST, company law and audit", rather than claims of being an expert. Para 3.1.3 B bars exaggerated claims about members' qualifications or experience.

How should a Delhi NCR CA firm present its services?

Describe what you do in neutral, informative pages, and keep audit and attestation on pull only. Para 3.3.3 permits push technology for non-exclusive services but pull only for services exclusively reserved for chartered accountants, which the Code illustrates with audit and attestation services.

  1. List services by practice area: accounting, GST, direct tax, company law, business advisory, and a separate audit and attestation page opened by choice.
  2. On each page, explain what the service covers and what documents a client usually needs. That is information, not solicitation.
  3. Do not show fees. Para 3.3.7 (xiii) says fee charged cannot be given, except where a regulator requires disclosure.
  4. Show client names only with client permission; for exclusive services only the name, never the work done or the fee.
  5. Avoid comparisons with other firms; para 3.1.3 C bars disparaging references and unsubstantiated comparisons.

What educational content works for Delhi NCR clients?

Explainers on rules that changed, written for business owners and salaried professionals, are the most useful content a CA site can carry. Para 3.3.10 permits blogs, articles, professional updates and educational videos.

  • Income-tax transition: the Income-tax Act, 2025 came into force on 1 April 2026, replacing the 1961 Act. A plain guide to what changes for filers is timely.
  • GST calendars: monthly and quarterly return due dates, updated whenever extensions are notified.
  • Company law basics: annual filings for small private companies and LLPs.
  • Hindi and English: many NCR traders and family businesses read Hindi; offer key explainers in both.
  • Videos: educational videos may be uploaded, but the Code says they should not contain the website address; the designation, firm name, physical address, phone and email may be mentioned (para 2.14.1.6 (iv) Q).

How can a CA firm handle local SEO across Delhi NCR within ICAI rules?

Let accurate facts do the work: a correct Business Profile for each real office, location pages and helpful content. Avoid anything that promotes the website itself; para 3.3.5 bars advertisements that solicit people to visit it.

  • Create a Google Business Profile only for offices where staff serve clients during stated hours. Google's guidelines require the real-world business name, an actual location and no virtual offices.
  • Keep the profile name to the firm name; do not add words like "GST" or a town name.
  • Link each profile to its own office page, not to the home page.
  • Use the same name, address and phone on the website, profiles and stationery.
  • Do not embed reviews on the site or run review campaigns; the Code bars testimonials.
  • Write location pages that describe the office and how to reach it, not "CA in every sector" pages copied with town names swapped.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a CA firm show all its branch offices on its website?

Yes. Para 3.3.7 of ICAI's Code of Ethics, 2026 allows the address of the head office and branches, with phone numbers and email IDs. The details should match what ICAI holds in its records, as para 3.3.21 requires. A separate page for each office, with a map and hours, keeps this clear. This is not legal or professional advice.

Can a CA network or alliance have its own website?

Yes, if the network or alliance is registered with ICAI. The 2026 guidelines let it display its registration number and must state the model adopted, such as alliance, network or lead firm model. It must update the site when firms join or leave and must not show information about any entity outside the network.

Can a CA firm in Delhi show its partners' photos and qualifications?

Yes. Partners' names, year of qualification, other qualifications, area of experience and contact details are permitted, along with passport-style photographs. Elected positions held in ICAI councils or branches may be mentioned. Avoid awards, rankings, "expert" titles and casual or event photos as profile pictures, because the Code restricts these.

Can a chartered accountant run Google Ads for the firm website?

The Code does not name search ads, but para 3.3.5 says chartered accountants should not issue any advertisement or material that solicits people to visit their website, and Clause (6) bars solicitation by any means. A paid ad sending traffic to the site sits uneasily with that. Seek the Ethical Standards Board's view before any paid placement.

Should a Delhi NCR CA website be in Hindi as well as English?

It can help. The Code lists languages known among the particulars a member may state, and many NCR traders and family businesses prefer Hindi for tax explainers. Offer the most-read pages, such as GST calendars and income-tax changes, in both languages, and have a qualified person check translated tax terms before publishing.
