Key takeaways
- ICAI's website guidelines in the Code of Ethics, 2026 (effective 1 April 2026) list what a CA firm website may show; everything else needs care.
- Services exclusively reserved for chartered accountants, such as audit and attestation, may be shown only on a visitor's specific "pull" request.
- Testimonials, fee figures, logos or monograms, banner ads and superlatives such as "leading firm" do not belong on the site.
- Local visibility in Gurgaon comes from accurate facts: an honest Google Business Profile, a clear office address and useful GST and income-tax explainers.

What should a CA firm website in Gurgaon actually do?
Good CA website design in Gurgaon gives people who are already looking for a chartered accountant the facts they need: who you are, where your office is, what services you provide and how to reach you. It is not a sales page. Chartered accountants work under rules that forbid solicitation and restrict advertising, so the design has to inform without pushing.
The rules come from Clauses (6) and (7) of Part I of the First Schedule to the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949. Clause (6) treats soliciting clients or professional work "directly or indirectly by circular, advertisement, personal communication or interview or by any other means" as professional misconduct. Clause (7) bars advertising professional attainments or services, except through a write-up that follows the Council's guidelines. Those guidelines, including a full section on websites, are in Chapter 3 of the ICAI Code of Ethics, 2026 (Volume I), updated up to December 2025. ICAI announced the 13th edition on 30 May 2026 and says it applies from 1 April 2026.
Gurgaon adds its own context. The district's offices and industries are spread across the city, Manesar and Sohna Road, and Cyber City on NH-8 holds large offices of multinational companies. Udyog Vihar, near the Delhi border, is an industrial estate of more than 1,200 industrial and commercial units. Your visitors may be a finance head in a Cyber City tower, a factory owner in IMT Manesar or a salaried professional on Golf Course Road. All of them want quick, accurate information on a phone.
This post summarises ICAI's published guidelines as we read them. It is not legal or professional advice. For a specific doubt, write to ICAI's Ethical Standards Board (esb@icai.in, as listed in the Code).
What may a CA website show under ICAI's 2026 guidelines?
Paragraph 3.3.7 of the Code lists what a firm or member may display, and it is more than many people expect. Use the list as the content plan for your site.
| Permitted item (Code para 3.3) | Where it goes in the design |
|---|---|
| Firm or member name, year of establishment | Header and About page, in plain text |
| Address of head office and branches, phone, email | Contact page and footer |
| Peer Review status and AQMM level | About page, stated factually |
| Nature of services rendered (exclusive services only on "pull" request) | Services section, with a separate page for audit and attestation |
| Partners: qualifications, year of qualification, area of experience, contact | Team page with passport-style photographs (para 3.3.9) |
| Employee details, number of articled assistants, job and articleship vacancies | Team and Careers pages |
| Client names and nature of work, only with client permission | Optional; for exclusive services only the client name may be shown |
| Blogs, articles, professional updates, educational videos (para 3.3.10) | Knowledge centre |
| Links to ICAI, its regional councils and branches, and government or regulator websites (para 3.3.18) | Useful links page or footer |
Photo galleries of professional events the firm organised, or events where your partners lectured, are also allowed (para 3.3.9). The information must not be at material variance from ICAI's records (para 3.3.21), so check that addresses and partner details match what the Institute holds.
What must a Gurgaon CA website leave out?
Leave out anything that praises, compares, promotes or invites. The website guidelines, the write-up conditions in para 3.1.3 and ICAI's advisory of 14 October 2020 point to the same list.
- Testimonials or endorsements about members, or about fees (para 3.1.3 E). No review widgets or star ratings on the site.
- Fees. Fee charged cannot be given, except where a regulator requires the disclosure, and then with the prescribed italic note (para 3.3.7 (xiii)). No "free consultation" lines either; the 2020 advisory lists mentions of free services.
- Logos and monograms. The Council prohibits a logo or monogram of any kind on any media, including the internet (para 2.14.1.7 (xvii)). The CA India logo is the exception, used as per ICAI's logo guidelines.
- Superlatives and catchwords: "leading firm" or "best firm" (the examples in ICAI's advisory), "why choose us" blocks, slogans and taglines.
- Awards and accreditations, except awards from the Central or State Government or regulators.
- Banner advertisements of any kind (para 3.3.16).
- Appeals to like or follow your social media pages. You may link them, but not ask people to visit or like them (para 3.3.12).
How should the pages of a Gurgaon CA website be laid out?
Use six or seven plain, predictable pages so a visitor can find any fact in two taps. The Code does not prescribe a format (para 3.3.2), which leaves room for good design as long as the content stays within the list.
- Home: firm name in plain text with "Chartered Accountants", the CA India logo if you use it, year of establishment, office address in Gurgaon and a short list of services. No hero slogan.
- About: the firm's history in facts, Peer Review status, AQMM level if reviewed, and any registered network affiliation.
- Services: one short page per non-exclusive service, such as accounting, GST compliance or business consultancy, plus a separate audit and attestation page that a visitor opens by choice.
- Team: partners and senior staff with passport-style photographs, qualifications, area of experience and languages known.
- Knowledge centre: articles, deadline explainers and educational videos.
- Careers: job openings and articleship vacancies, which the Code expressly permits.
- Contact: office address, Google Map, working hours, phone, email and a simple enquiry form.
The design itself should feel like a well-kept office: generous white space, a readable typeface, a restrained colour palette and clear headings. Avoid stock photos of handshakes or smiling "clients"; the Code allows passport-style photographs and professional event photos, so typography and layout should carry the look.
How does the "pull" rule change the design of audit pages?
Services exclusively reserved for chartered accountants must reach a visitor only when the visitor asks for them. Para 3.3.3 says websites may run on "pull" as well as "push" technology, but for exclusive services "only 'pull' model will be permitted".
The Code describes exclusive services, in its section on tenders, as audit and attestation services such as audit under the Companies Act, 2013 and the Income Tax Act, 1961. Para 3.3.4 adds that information about exclusive services on the website must not be circulated by email or any other mode except on a specific pull request. In design terms:
- Keep audit and attestation on its own page, reached from the Services menu, not in a home-page banner or carousel.
- Do not trigger pop-ups, chat prompts or push notifications about audit services.
- Leave audit services out of newsletters, WhatsApp broadcasts and social posts.
- For non-exclusive services the Code now allows push technology, but the write-up conditions still apply: honest, no exaggeration, no comparison.
How can a CA firm be found in Gurgaon without soliciting?
Be easy to verify and easy to understand: accurate listings, a precise office location and genuinely useful explainers. Someone who searches for a chartered accountant in Gurgaon is already looking; your job is to be found with correct facts. The Code also bars advertisements meant to make people visit your website (para 3.3.5), so build visibility through accuracy and content, not promotion.
- Google Business Profile: use the firm's real name exactly as on your board and stationery, your real office address (Google does not allow virtual offices) and the fewest categories that describe the practice, as Google's guidelines require. Our guide to Google Business Profile optimisation in Gurgaon covers the setup.
- Location page: one page for each office registered with ICAI, with a map, landmarks and directions, for example from the Rapid Metro or the Golf Course Road side.
- Factual service area: a plain sentence that the firm works with businesses across Gurgaon and Manesar is information; "Gurgaon's top tax experts" is not.
- Explainers: GST return due dates, TDS basics and what changed now that the Income-tax Act, 2025 is in force from 1 April 2026. Update them when dates move.
- Reviews: the Code does not mention Google reviews. Given the bar on testimonials and solicitation, the cautious path is not to display reviews on your website and not to run review-request campaigns. Reply to reviews factually and never reveal client details.
For the technical side of search, see SEO services in Gurgaon; for a CA site, the same work simply stays factual.
Which design details keep the site "befitting the profession"?
Para 3.3.17 asks that the website be befitting the profession, so small details matter as much as the page list. Use this checklist before launch.
- Domain name as near as possible to the firm or member name (para 3.3.20), not a keyword such as a "tax expert" domain.
- Firm name in plain text in the header; no logo-style lettering of the firm name.
- No banner, pop-up or third-party ads, including ads from a free hosting plan.
- Mobile layout that loads quickly on 4G and puts phone, address and hours within one tap.
- Readable text sizes and good contrast for older clients and partners.
- Website address on stationery and email signatures, which the Code permits.
- A review of every page against para 3.3.7 and the October 2020 advisory before going live.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a chartered accountant have a website in India?
Yes. ICAI's Code of Ethics, 2026 says members and firms are free to create their own website, within the website guidelines in Chapter 3. The site may show permitted particulars such as name, address, services, partners and articles, but must not solicit work, show testimonials or fees, or carry banner advertisements. This is not legal or professional advice.
What does the ICAI "pull model" mean for a CA website?
It means information about services exclusively reserved for chartered accountants, such as audit and attestation, is shown only when a visitor actively asks for it, for example by opening that page. It should not be pushed through pop-ups, banners, emails or broadcasts. Under the 2026 Code, non-exclusive services such as accounting or consultancy may also use push technology.
Can a CA firm show its logo on its website?
The Code says the Council prohibited logos or monograms of any kind on any media, including the internet, and also printing the firm name in a way that amounts to a logo. The CA India logo issued by ICAI is the exception and may be used as per ICAI's logo guidelines. Keep the firm name in plain text.
Can a Gurgaon CA firm list its clients on the website?
Under para 3.3.7 of the 2026 Code, a firm may show client names and the nature of the assignment only with the client's permission. For services exclusively reserved for chartered accountants, only the client name may be shown, again with permission. Fees charged cannot be shown. Many firms simply leave client names out to avoid confidentiality questions.
How can a CA firm get local search visibility in Gurgaon within ICAI rules?
Keep a Google Business Profile with the firm's real name, real office address and accurate hours, add a location page with a map, and publish useful explainers on GST, TDS and income-tax changes. Avoid superlatives, paid promotion of the website and review campaigns. Being accurate and helpful is what lets people who are searching find you.
