1. Bullet Cameras

Bullet cameras are the most recognisable type — long and cylindrical, mounted on walls or ceilings with an adjustable bracket. They are designed for long-range outdoor surveillance and are highly visible, which itself acts as a deterrent.

Types of CCTV cameras for Indian homes

Best for: Main gates, compound walls, parking areas, factory perimeters

Price range: ₹900–₹4,000 per camera depending on resolution and IR range

Pros: Visible deterrent, easy to aim, long IR night vision range (up to 50m)

Cons: Easy to vandalize or redirect if not installed high enough

2. Dome Cameras

Dome cameras are enclosed in a round housing that is typically ceiling-mounted. The lens direction is hidden inside the dome, making it impossible for an intruder to tell where exactly the camera is pointed.

Best for: Indoor use — reception areas, shops, offices, bank lobbies. Also widely used in apartments and condos.

Price range: ₹1,000–₹5,000

Pros: Vandal-resistant dome housing, discreet, wide-angle lens options

Cons: Limited IR range compared to bullet cameras

3. PTZ Cameras

PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras can rotate horizontally and vertically and zoom in on specific areas — either automatically or via remote control. They are the most expensive type but offer the widest coverage.

Best for: Large open areas — warehouses, factory floors, large parking lots, event venues

Price range: ₹8,000–₹50,000+

Pros: One camera can cover what 3–4 fixed cameras would need to

Cons: Expensive, requires more maintenance, can miss events in areas not currently pointed at

4. Fisheye / 360° Cameras

Fisheye cameras use an ultra-wide lens (typically 180° or 360°) to capture an entire room in a single image. Software "dewarps" the fisheye distortion to give a usable view.
