Key takeaways

  • Treat home rooftops, shops and institutions, and IMT Rohtak factory roofs as three different buyers, each with its own campaign, keywords and landing page.
  • Target Rohtak city plus only the nearby towns you can survey and service — such as Sampla, Meham, Kalanaur and Lakhan Majra — and pick Presence or Presence or interest on purpose.
  • PM Surya Ghar is a household rooftop scheme: explain its steps plainly for home buyers, keep it out of commercial ads, and never put subsidy figures in an ad.
  • Qualify leads before the site visit with a few plain questions on ownership, roof, building type and town, and track calls and survey requests as conversions.

What works for a solar installer advertising in Rohtak?

Run separate campaigns for the three kinds of roof you install on in and around Rohtak — homes, shops and institutions, and factories — and draw each campaign’s map around the towns your team can reach for a survey and later service visits. Most wasted spend in a local solar account comes from mixing these buyers in one campaign, or from showing ads in places the installer never visits.

This guide is the Rohtak view. It covers who the local buyers are, how to target the city and the towns around it, what to say about the government scheme, and how to filter leads before you send a surveyor. For the full keyword lists, match types, lead form assets and conversion setup, read our complete guide to Google Ads for solar panel installers in India; the two are meant to be read together.

Rohtak suits a split account. Wikipedia describes it as the administrative headquarters of Rohtak district, about 70 km north-west of New Delhi, with old sectors such as Sector 1, 2, 3, 4 and 14, a railway junction and an Industrial Model Township developed by HSIIDC. Homes, shops, institutions and an industrial township sit within one district, and each asks a solar installer for a different conversation.

Who are the three solar buyers in and around Rohtak?

The homeowner wants a rooftop system and help with the scheme; the shop or institution wants a fair proposal someone can approve; the factory in IMT Rohtak wants capacity planning, documents and a dependable contractor. They use different words in search, take different amounts of time and need different landing pages.

Homeowners usually bring the most search volume, so in a single mixed campaign their searches tend to eat the budget meant for commercial work. Separate campaigns let you decide how much goes to each buyer, and the weekly report then shows which one actually books surveys.

Institutions deserve a mention of their own in Rohtak. The city is home to Maharshi Dayanand University, a state university founded in 1976, the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma PGIMS, a government medical institution set up in 1960, and IIM Rohtak. Public bodies of this kind often buy through formal processes rather than search ads, so do not build a campaign around them; private schools, coaching centres, clinics and hostels are the more realistic search audience for an institutional page.

If you install only on homes, skip the other two campaigns. Ads for work you do not take bring calls you cannot convert.

How do you target Rohtak city and the nearby towns?

Add Rohtak and each nearby town you really serve as a named location, or as a radius circle where a name is not offered, exclude places you do not visit, and choose the location option per campaign. A surveyor’s travel time is the real limit, so the map should follow it.

The towns around Rohtak differ in what they need from an installer. Here is what Wikipedia confirms about Sampla, Meham, Kalanaur and Lakhan Majra, and what that means for targeting:

PlaceWhat Wikipedia saysTargeting idea
RohtakDistrict headquarters, about 70 km north-west of New Delhi; NH 9 to Delhi with a 30 km city bypassCore of the home and commercial campaigns
SamplaTown and municipal committee in Rohtak district, tehsil headquarters, on NH 9 between Rohtak and DelhiAdd to the home campaign if your team covers the Delhi side of the district
MehamSmall town with its own municipality, about 30 km from Rohtak in the west of the district, on NH 9Its own ad group or radius, so its enquiries show separately in reports
KalanaurTown and municipal committee in Rohtak districtAdd by name or radius if you survey there
Lakhan MajraSub-tehsil of Rohtak district with 13 villagesA radius covering the villages, only if your crews travel there
IMT RohtakIndustrial Model Township developed by HSIIDCTarget in the factory campaign, not the home one

Google’s location options page describes two settings. Presence or interest reaches people in your locations and people who have shown interest in them, and Google recommends it for Search campaigns. Presence is for when you only want to reach people in the places you target. For home rooftops, Presence is the safer start: a person who merely reads about Rohtak is unlikely to own a roof there. For factory work, Presence or interest can make sense, because the person who signs off may sit in Delhi or Gurgaon while the roof is in IMT Rohtak.

Two cautions from the same page. A radius must be at least 1 km, and a very small radius or location can mean ads show only now and then, or not at all. And when you type a place name, include the state, so Google picks the right town.

  • Separate reports by town: put Meham and Sampla in their own ad groups or campaigns if you want to see which town brings surveys.
  • Exclude what you skip: if crews do not travel beyond a certain point, exclude the districts beyond it rather than hoping the radius holds.
  • Name the town on the page: a page headed “Rooftop solar in Meham” answers a Meham search better than a general Rohtak page.

What should Rohtak solar ads say about PM Surya Ghar?

For home buyers, say what you really do in the scheme — for example, that you help with the application or that you are a registered vendor, if true — and send readers to the official portal for current rules. Keep subsidy amounts out of ads, and keep the scheme out of commercial and factory campaigns entirely.

The PIB backgrounder from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (March 2025) describes PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana as a domestic rooftop solar initiative, launched on 13 February 2024. Its eligibility conditions are an Indian citizen household that owns a house with a roof suitable for solar panels, has a valid electricity connection and has not availed any other subsidy for solar panels. Households apply on the National Portal, where they can also select a vendor; the portal offers guidance on system size, a benefits calculator and vendor ratings.

The same document lists the steps: registration on the portal with the consumer number and mobile number, the application, DISCOM approval, installation by a registered vendor, the net meter application, a DISCOM inspection and a commissioning certificate from the portal. It also says the scheme mandates solar modules and cells produced in India. These steps are what Rohtak homeowners will ask about on the phone, so a home landing page that explains them plainly saves your team time.

Because rules and amounts change, point people to the official PM Surya Ghar portal rather than quoting figures. Google’s misrepresentation policy bars ads that imply an affiliation with a government entity you do not have, and inaccurate or improbable claims. A page that looks like an official scheme office, or an ad that promises a zero bill, invites trouble.

A shop, school or factory owner who sees scheme wording may assume they qualify. Keeping the scheme on the home page only avoids that confusion and the wasted calls that follow.

How do you qualify solar leads before sending a surveyor?

Ask four or five short questions on the landing page and on the first call: who owns the building, what kind of building it is, the roof type, the town, and a rough bill band in words. In a district where a survey can mean a trip out to Meham or Lakhan Majra, filtering first protects your crew’s day.

  1. Ownership: owner or tenant. For the home scheme, the household must own the house, so tenants are better served by an honest reply than a site visit.
  2. Building type: house, shop, institution or factory. The answer tells you which campaign the lead came from and who in your team should call back.
  3. Roof: flat concrete roof, sloping roof or tin shed, and whether the roof is shared with other families.
  4. Town or sector: a pick-list of the places you serve — Rohtak sectors, Sampla, Meham, Kalanaur, Lakhan Majra villages, IMT Rohtak — plus “other”.
  5. Bill band: low, medium or high, with bands you define, so no one has to type figures.
  6. Preferred time to call: morning, afternoon or evening, so the first call reaches the decision-maker.

Keep the form short; every extra field loses some people. The site-survey request is the main conversion for homes, and a call or meeting request for commercial and factory buyers. Which place-name keywords and negatives fit the Rohtak area?

Pair the job with the place: rooftop solar with Rohtak or Meham, solar for factory with IMT Rohtak. Then block the searches that mention solar but will never become installations — jobs, courses, study projects, gadgets and dealerships.

CampaignPlace-name keyword ideasNegatives to consider
Home rooftopsrooftop solar rohtak, solar panel installation sampla, solar for home meham, solar installer kalanaurjob, vacancy, salary, course, training, project, pdf, diy, solar light, solar fan
Shops and institutionssolar for shop rohtak, solar for school rohtak, rooftop solar for hospital haryanafranchise, dealership, distributorship, business plan, tender result
IMT Rohtak factoriessolar for factory imt rohtak, industrial rooftop solar rohtak, commercial solar plant haryanawholesale panel, manufacturer, share price, stock, used panel

A city with a large university and a medical institute also sees study searches, such as solar project reports and course questions, so negatives like project, pdf, thesis, internship and course matter here. Google’s negative keywords page notes that negatives do not match close variants, so add plurals and alternate spellings yourself.

Read the search terms report every week for the first month. Hindi words typed in English letters and town names spelled two ways can turn up there; add the useful ones as keywords and the useless ones as negatives.

How should calls, schedules and follow-up work?

Use call assets on your search ads, schedule them for the hours someone answers, track calls and survey requests as conversions, and follow up by WhatsApp, because few people buy solar on the day they first search.

  • Call assets: Google’s call assets add your number to ads and can be set to show only on the days and hours your business can take calls. Calls can be counted as conversions with call reporting.
  • Not call ads: Google says options to create new call ads were removed in February 2026 and existing ones stop receiving impressions in February 2027, so build on call assets.
  • Different hours per buyer: factory and institution buyers tend to call in office hours; families often research in the evening, when a WhatsApp reply may serve them better than a call.
  • Follow-up: a reply the same day, a survey slot offered quickly, and a reminder after the quote. Remarketing to past visitors helps while the family or committee decides.

Signed orders can come weeks after the click. The India guide explains how to send those later stages back into Google Ads so bidding learns which leads become installations; if the ads are not showing at all, see why a campaign gets no impressions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should a Rohtak solar installer run one campaign or several?

Usually several. Home rooftops, shops and institutions, and factory roofs in IMT Rohtak are different buyers who search with different words, decide at different speeds and need different landing pages. Separate campaigns let you set a budget, locations and an ad schedule for each, and the weekly report then shows which buyer actually books site surveys instead of blending them together.

Can my ads cover Meham, Sampla and Kalanaur as well as Rohtak?

Yes, if your team can survey and service those towns. Add each as a named location, or as a radius where a name is not offered, and exclude areas you do not visit. Google’s minimum radius is 1 km and it warns that very small areas may show ads only now and then. Separate ad groups per town make it easy to see where enquiries come from.

Can I mention PM Surya Ghar in ads for factories or shops?

No, keep it out. The PIB backgrounder from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy describes PM Surya Ghar as a domestic rooftop solar initiative for households that own a house with a suitable roof. Scheme wording in a commercial or factory ad misleads the reader and brings calls you cannot convert. Mention the scheme only on your home rooftop campaign and page, and link the official portal.

Is Presence or Presence or interest better for solar ads in Rohtak?

It depends on the campaign. For home rooftops, Presence is the safer start, because the buyer should own a roof in the area you serve. For factory and commercial work, Presence or interest can help, since the person who approves the order may sit in another city. Google recommends Presence or interest for Search, so test it carefully and watch the search terms report.

Can you promise a number of solar leads in Rohtak?

No. No one can promise leads, installations or a fixed ad position, because Google decides when an ad shows through Ad Rank. What we commit to is a clean account split by buyer and town, honest tracking of calls and survey requests, a weekly report on clicks, leads and cost per lead, and a monthly review call. Ad spend goes directly to Google, separate from our fee.
