Key takeaways
- Structure the site around departments, doctors and OPD timings stored as data, so one update shows everywhere.
- Connect forms to the hospital's own systems or a CRM instead of a shared inbox, and log who sees each enquiry.
- The DPDP Rules, 2025 spell out minimum security safeguards and a 72-hour breach report, so build them in from day one.
- The 2002 ethics regulations apply to institutions too: publish facilities and services, not claims of cures or superiority.

What does a hospital website developer in Gurgaon actually build?
A good hospital website developer in Gurgaon builds a content system: departments, doctors, timings, services and enquiries that staff can update without a developer, plus the integrations and security around them. The visible pages are the easy part.
Gurgaon is a recognised centre for medical tourism as well as IT and consulting, so a hospital site here often serves three audiences at once: local patients booking an OPD visit, referring doctors checking a department, and patients from other cities or countries planning treatment. A small multi-speciality hospital or nursing home has the same needs on a smaller scale.
A typical scope looks like this:
- Content model: departments, doctors, services, OPD schedules and locations stored as structured records, not typed into each page.
- Admin panel: roles so the front office can change timings and marketing can edit articles, but only a nominated doctor can approve medical content.
- Enquiry handling: appointment requests, call-back forms and WhatsApp routed to the right desk.
- Integrations: the hospital information system, an appointment tool or a CRM, where they exist.
- Security and privacy: encryption, access control, logs and backups, planned around the DPDP Rules.
- Local search: structured data, location pages and Google Business Profile setup.
How should a hospital site be structured around departments, doctors and OPD timings?
Make the department the hub, link each doctor to their departments, and attach OPD timings to the doctor record. Then a timing change made once updates the doctor page, the department page and any search result on the site.
| Record | Key fields | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Department | Name, conditions treated, services, facilities, location in the building | Department page, home page menu, site search |
| Doctor | Name, recognised degrees, registration number and State Medical Council, departments, languages | Doctor profile, department page, appointment form |
| OPD schedule | Doctor, days, time slots, location, holiday exceptions | Doctor profile, department page, timings page |
| Service or procedure | What it is, who it suits, preparation, recovery information | Service page, related department |
| Location | Address, entrance, parking, nearest metro, map | Contact page, every page footer, structured data |
Two details matter in practice. Add a "doctor on leave" switch, so a profile can show a short notice instead of wrong timings. And give the site search a filter by department, doctor and language, because many patients arrive knowing only the problem or the doctor's name.
Ask the developer to show the admin screen for changing one doctor's OPD timings. If it takes more than a minute, the front desk will stop keeping it current.
Which hospital systems should the website connect to?
Connect the website to whatever system the hospital already runs for appointments and patient enquiries, and keep clinical records out of the website entirely. The website should hand data over, not become a second hospital system.
| Integration | What it does | Points to settle |
|---|---|---|
| Appointment or HIS system | Sends booking requests or shows available slots | Does the system offer an API? Who confirms the slot, and how is the patient told? |
| CRM | Tracks enquiries, call-backs and follow-ups by department | Fields, owners and how long enquiries are kept |
| WhatsApp Business | Lets patients start a chat with the right desk | Which number per department; who answers after hours |
| Analytics | Measures which pages lead to enquiries | No health details in analytics events or page URLs |
| Email and SMS | Acknowledges requests | Never include diagnosis or reports in automatic messages |
Where no appointment system exists, a well-built request form feeding a CRM built for the hospital's front office is often the most reliable first step. It gives each enquiry an owner and a status, which a shared inbox never does.
What do medical ethics rules mean for a hospital website?
The ethics regulations cover institutions as well as individual doctors, so a hospital site should describe facilities and services factually and avoid soliciting patients. This is general information, not legal advice.
The NMC put its 2023 professional conduct regulations in abeyance on 23 August 2023 and adopted the 2002 ethics regulations, which still govern as far as we could find. Clause 6.1.1 says soliciting patients by a physician, a group of physicians, or institutions or organisations is unethical, and that doctors must not boast of cases, operations or cures. Clause 7.12 says an institution such as a nursing home or private hospital may be advertised in the lay press, but the advertisement should contain no more than the institution's name, the type of patients admitted, the type of training and other facilities offered, and the fees.
- Describe departments, equipment and services; do not claim to be "the best" or quote success rates you cannot support.
- Keep doctor profiles to qualifications, registration, experience areas and timings.
- Leave out patient testimonials and case stories that boast of cures.
- Use identifiable patient photos only with permission (clause 7.17).
- Avoid any claim to treat diseases listed in the Schedule to the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, and any false or misleading claim about a drug or remedy.
How do you handle patient data, security and breaches?
Collect less, encrypt and restrict what you keep, log access, and have a breach plan before launch. The DPDP Rules turn these from good practice into stated duties.
The DPDP Rules, 2025 were notified on 13 November 2025. Rule 6 sets minimum security safeguards: encryption, masking or similar measures; access control; logs and monitoring to detect unauthorised access; backups for continued processing; and keeping those logs for a year unless another law needs longer. Rule 7 requires informing affected people and reporting a breach to the Data Protection Board, with details within 72 hours. These duties apply 18 months after notification.
- Map every field the site collects, and remove the ones nobody uses.
- Encrypt form data in transit and at rest, and never put patient details in URLs.
- Give each staff member their own login, with access limited to their department.
- Keep access logs and review them; keep backups and test a restore.
- Put a written contract in place with the hosting and form providers.
- Write a one-page breach plan: who decides, who informs patients, who reports to the Board.
How should a Gurgaon hospital set up Google profiles and local pages?
Give the hospital one main Business Profile, add separate profiles only for departments that run as distinct public-facing units, and support them with matching pages on the site. A Gurgaon hospital also needs clear directions for patients arriving from Delhi and the airport.
- Departments: Google's guidelines allow a hospital department its own profile when it operates as a distinct, publicly facing unit. Doctors who see patients publicly can have practitioner profiles.
- Names: use the real name only; no keywords, taglines or phone numbers.
- Appointment links: add appointment links that open the matching department's booking page.
- Structured data: mark up the hospital with the Hospital type and link doctor and department pages consistently.
- Directions: name the nearest Yellow Line or Rapid Metro station and the access road; Gurgaon's sectors are not intuitive to visitors.

What should you ask a hospital website developer before hiring?
Ask how they handle content structure, integrations, security and handover, not just what the design will look like. These answers decide whether the site still works a year after launch.
- Will departments, doctors and OPD timings be structured records that our staff can edit?
- Can medical content require approval by a named doctor before it is published?
- How will forms reach our appointment system or CRM, and who sees each enquiry?
- What encryption, access control, logging and backups are included?
- Who owns the code, the domain and the hosting account, and what documentation do we get?
- How will page speed be checked on mid-range phones over mobile data?
- What is the support arrangement for urgent fixes?

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a hospital website and a clinic website?
A clinic site usually covers one or two doctors and a few services. A hospital site manages many departments, doctors and OPD schedules that change often, so it needs a structured content system, staff roles, approval of medical content and integrations with appointment or CRM tools. Security and breach planning also matter more because of the volume of enquiries.
Should the hospital website show live appointment slots?
Only if your appointment system can share slots reliably through an API. Showing slots that are already taken frustrates patients. Many hospitals start with a request form that the front office confirms by phone or WhatsApp, then add live slots once the integration is tested. Either way, tell patients clearly when their appointment is actually confirmed.
Can a hospital website publish patient success stories?
It is safer not to. The 2002 ethics regulations, still in force while the 2023 NMC regulations remain in abeyance, say doctors must not boast of cases, operations or cures, and that soliciting by institutions is unethical. Describe departments, facilities and services factually instead. This is general information, not legal advice; check borderline content with a lawyer.
Does each hospital department need its own Google Business Profile?
Not always. Google's guidelines allow a department its own profile when it operates as a distinct, publicly facing unit. A department that patients reach only through the main reception is usually better described on the main hospital profile and on its own page on the website, with a link from the profile.
When do the DPDP Rules apply to a hospital website?
The DPDP Rules were notified on 13 November 2025. The rules on notice, security safeguards and breach reporting come into force 18 months after notification. Because rebuilding forms, logs and contracts takes time, it makes sense to design a new hospital website around these duties now. This is not legal advice.
