Google Ads Lead Form vs Calls vs Quote Page for Packers and Movers

For most small movers, Google Ads enquiries should arrive as calls (via call assets), WhatsApp taps and a quote form on your own site. Google’s in-ad lead form is worth testing, not relying on.

Key takeaways

  • Calls are the fastest enquiry for a mover, and since February 2026 they come through call assets on search ads, because new call-only ads can no longer be created.
  • Google’s lead form asset collects details inside the ad, but it needs an eligible account, a privacy policy, a conversion-focused bid strategy and someone to fetch the leads quickly.
  • A quote-form landing page on your own site usually gives the most complete move details and the most trust, because the customer sees your services before asking.
  • For a small mover, run call assets and a quote page with a WhatsApp button first, track each one as its own conversion, and test the lead form later.

Which way should Google Ads enquiries reach a packers and movers business?

Use more than one route. Calls catch the customer who wants to talk now, a quote form on your website captures full move details, and a WhatsApp button suits people who would rather type. Google’s lead form asset is a fourth route that fills in a form inside the ad itself.

People searching for a mover are rarely in the same mood. Someone whose landlord wants the flat back next week will tap call. Someone planning a Gurgaon to Bangalore move for next month wants to compare quotes quietly at night. Someone in an office in Cyber City may only be able to send a WhatsApp message. Each route suits a different customer, and each needs something different from you before it works.

This post compares the four routes and suggests a mix for a small mover. It does not repeat keyword and negative keyword setup, which our Google Ads keywords and setup guide for movers covers in detail.

  • Phone calls: a call button added to your search ads with a call asset.
  • Google lead form: a form that opens inside the ad, hosted by Google.
  • Quote-form landing page: the ad sends people to a page on your own site with a short moving quote form.
  • WhatsApp: a WhatsApp button on that landing page, or a WhatsApp message asset on the ad where your account can use one.

Can you still run call-only ads, or do you need call assets?

You now need call assets. Google removed the option to create new call ads in February 2026, so a mover who wants phone calls from Google Ads adds the number to responsive search ads as a call asset.

Google’s call ads help page says all options to create new call ads were removed in February 2026 and that existing call ads will stop receiving impressions in February 2027. Google strongly recommends moving to call assets now. If an old account still has call-only ads running, plan the switch rather than waiting for them to stop.

According to Google’s call assets page, a call asset shows a clickable call button under your responsive search ad on phones that can make calls, and a “Call us” button on desktop that reveals the number with a QR code to open the dialler on a phone. A tap on the call button on mobile is charged like a click on the ad. Points that matter for a mover:

  • Schedule the number: in the asset’s advanced options you can show it only on chosen days and hours. If nobody answers after 9 PM, do not show the number after 9 PM.
  • Verified number: Google checks that the number belongs to your business. Enter it in the full international format, and make sure the same number appears in your website’s code, or verify your domain through Google Search Console. Unverified numbers can be disapproved.
  • No vanity or premium numbers: Google does not allow them as call assets.
  • Call reporting: turn it on so Google uses a forwarding number and can count calls as conversions.

Google’s forwarding number page notes that for India the call details do not include the caller’s phone number, and on some calls caller ID shows a Google number. Ask every caller for a name and WhatsApp number at the start, and note it in your sheet or CRM.

What is a Google Ads lead form asset, and can a mover use one?

A lead form asset lets a searcher send their name, phone number or email, plus answers to your questions, in a form that opens from the ad, without visiting your website. Movers can use it if the account is eligible, but Google sets several conditions first.

Google’s lead form assets page says lead forms can be added to Search and Performance Max campaigns, for eligible advertisers in supported countries. The account needs:

  1. A good history of policy compliance.
  2. An eligible vertical or sub-vertical (sensitive categories are excluded).
  3. A link to your business’s privacy policy, which appears at the end of the form, so your website needs a real privacy policy page.
  4. A conversion-focused bid strategy, with the campaign optimised towards a Google lead form conversion goal.
  5. Responsive search ads (older expanded text ads are not eligible).
  6. For a form that opens straight from the headline, or on Display, a minimum spend history and completed Advertiser verification.

Google’s guide to creating lead forms shows the form is built from contact questions (at least one of name, email or phone number), custom questions you add, a headline and description, a call to action and a submission message. For a mover, useful custom questions are the moving from and to locations, home size and moving month. Two optional features help with quality:

  • Phone number verification: a one-time password by SMS that filters out invalid or spam numbers. Google lists it for Search campaigns only.
  • Qualifying responses: Google’s qualifying responses page explains that a multiple-choice question can mark some answers as strong prospects, and those submissions are tagged as qualified leads. Search campaigns only, and the question is mandatory for the user.

Check the current requirements in your own account before planning around lead forms. If the option does not appear, your account may not be eligible yet.

Why does a quote-form landing page still matter for movers?

Because moving is a trust purchase. On your own page the customer sees photos of real packing, your address, the services you offer and how the move works before they enquire, and your form can ask for exactly the details you need to quote.

A lead form asks someone to hand over their number to a business they have only seen as three lines of ad text. That is easy for them, which is good for volume, but it also makes casual and accidental submissions more likely. A landing page asks for a little more effort and gives a lot more in return: a page that matches the search (household shifting, office relocation, car transport, a named route), and a form with fields such as move from and to, home size, date and items like a car or bike.

The page also works when the ad is not showing. Customers bookmark it, share it with family and come back to it. Our guide to moving quote forms that convert explains which fields to ask for and which to leave out.

WhatsApp fits here. A WhatsApp button on the quote page lets people send photos of their furniture or a list of items, which helps you quote. Google also offers message assets that put a WhatsApp chat button on the ad itself, on Search and Performance Max. Google lists them as beta and requires Advertiser verification, an active WhatsApp Business number and a starter message, and impressions may be limited at first for new advertisers. Treat them as an extra if your account has them.

Calls vs lead form vs quote page: how do they compare?

Calls are fastest, the quote page gives the fullest details, WhatsApp is the most convenient for the customer, and the lead form is the lowest effort for them but needs the most care from you. The table compares them on the points that matter to a mover.

PointCalls (call assets)Google lead formQuote page on your siteWhatsApp click
Lead qualityUsually high, the caller wants to talk nowMixed: easy to submit, so casual entries happen; OTP and qualifying questions helpUsually high, the customer chose to fill the form after seeing your pageUsually good, but some only ask a quick question and go quiet
Speed of first contactInstant, if someone answersOnly as fast as you check email alerts or your CRMDepends on how fast you call backFast, if someone replies within minutes
Move details you getWhat you ask on the call, and only if you note it downContact details plus the custom questions you setEverything your form asks: from, to, home size, date, itemsWhatever the customer types or photographs
What the mover must haveA verified number answered during the scheduled hoursAn eligible account, a privacy policy page, a conversion-focused bid strategy and a way to collect leadsA fast mobile page per service or route, with a working form and thank-you pageA WhatsApp Business number someone checks all day
Tracking in Google AdsCall reporting with a minimum call lengthLead form submissions are tracked by GoogleForm submission conversion on the thank-you pageClick on the button, not the message itself
Main riskMissed calls after hours or during a jobLeads not downloaded in time, or no fast follow-upSlow or confusing page losing visitorsUnanswered chats

No single route wins on every row. That is why most movers do better with two or three routes running together, each measured separately.

How do you download and use leads from a Google Ads lead form?

Set up email notifications or a webhook to your CRM when you create the form, and also download the leads regularly. Google stores lead form leads for a limited time, so leaving them in the account is risky.

Google’s lead form page says leads are stored for 60 days, and the CSV download covers only the last 30 days, so Google advises downloading often. The delivery options it lists are:

  • Email notifications: an email for each lead to the addresses you enter in the form’s notification settings. The simplest choice for a small mover.
  • CSV download: a manual export from the assets table in Google Ads.
  • Webhook: sends each lead straight to your CRM; a developer can write it, or a third-party connector can be used.
  • Google Ads API: automatic export for businesses with their own systems.

Whichever you choose, the lead is only useful if someone calls it back quickly. A person who filled a form in the ad may not remember your business name an hour later, so open the call by naming the ad and their move: “You asked about shifting a 2BHK from Sohna Road to Pune.” A CRM for packers and movers can put lead form leads, website forms and WhatsApp chats in one list with follow-up reminders.

After the form is approved, submit a test lead yourself and check it reaches your email or CRM before you spend real money. Adding new custom questions later sends the form back for policy review, which pauses the linked campaigns until it is approved.

What mix should a small packers and movers business use?

Start with call assets and a quote-form landing page with a WhatsApp button. Add a lead form only after the first two are tracked and you can follow up within minutes. This order gives you fast calls, full move details and clean data, without depending on a form you do not control.

  1. Build one landing page per main service or route, with a short quote form (move from and to, home size, date), call and WhatsApp buttons, real photos and your address. Our packers and movers website design page shows what we build.
  2. Add a call asset to every search campaign, scheduled for the hours your phone is answered, with call reporting on.
  3. Decide who answers. A mover on a packing job cannot take calls. Name one person, or route calls to an office number during working hours.
  4. Track every route separately: calls from ads, calls from the website, WhatsApp clicks and form submissions.
  5. Run for a few weeks, then compare which route brings enquiries that turn into confirmed moves, not just the most enquiries.
  6. Test a lead form on one campaign if your account is eligible, with phone verification and a qualifying question such as home size, and compare its leads with the quote page.
  7. Shift budget towards the routes that book moves, and pause or rework the rest.

A small local mover in a town like Jhajjar or Rewari may get most of its work from calls, while a mover chasing intercity routes from Gurgaon may find the quote page brings fuller enquiries. Your own numbers decide. What each route costs to run depends on your keywords, area and competition; our guide to Google Ads cost for packers and movers explains what drives it.

How do you track calls, lead forms, WhatsApp and quote forms?

Give each route its own conversion action in Google Ads, so you can see which keywords and ads bring calls, forms and chats. Without this, Google’s bidding and your own decisions are guesswork.

  • Calls from ads: Google can track calls from ads made through call and location assets, counting a call as a conversion once it lasts longer than a minimum length you set. Call reporting must be on.
  • Calls from your website: Google can swap the number on your site for a forwarding number for ad visitors and count calls over your chosen length. By default it tracks one number per page.
  • Taps on call or WhatsApp buttons: clicks on a number, button or link on your mobile site can be counted as conversions, but Google notes it tracks the click, not the call itself. A WhatsApp click likewise shows a chat was opened, not that a message was sent.
  • Quote forms: count a submission on the thank-you page or the form’s success message, never on page load.
  • Lead forms: submissions are recorded under the lead form conversion goal Google sets up with the campaign.

Then close the loop by hand: mark in your CRM or sheet which enquiries became booked moves and which route they came from. Our post on conversion tracking for calls, WhatsApp and forms walks through the setup step by step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Google Ads have a lead form?

Yes. Google Ads offers lead form assets, which open a form from your ad so people can send their name, phone number or email and answer your questions without visiting your website. They work on Search and Performance Max campaigns for eligible accounts, and need a privacy policy link and a conversion-focused bid strategy. Leads are stored for a limited time, so set up email alerts or a CRM connection.

Can I still create call-only ads in Google Ads?

No. Google removed the option to create new call ads in February 2026, and existing call ads stop receiving impressions in February 2027. To get phone calls from search ads, add your number to responsive search ads as a call asset. You can schedule the asset for the hours someone answers, and turn on call reporting so calls can be counted as conversions.

Is a Google lead form better than a landing page for packers and movers?

Not usually as the main route. A lead form is quick for the customer, so it can bring more submissions, but some are casual and you get only the fields you set. A landing page shows your services, photos and address first and can ask for move from and to, home size and date. Many movers use the landing page first and test a lead form alongside.

Why is my call asset disapproved for an unverified phone number?

Google must confirm the number belongs to your business. Enter it in full international format, and make sure the exact number appears in your website’s code, or verify your domain through Google Search Console. Dynamic or third-party tracking numbers need domain verification. Vanity, premium and fax numbers are not allowed as call assets, so use a normal business mobile or landline.

Why is my lead form asset under review?

New lead forms, and some edits such as adding custom questions, go through Google’s policy review. While a form is under review, campaigns linked to it can be paused until it is approved. Keep the headline, questions and description accurate, link a working privacy policy, and avoid editing questions on a form that is already running well; create a new form to test changes instead.
