Key takeaways

  • Google’s Local Services Ads help pages offer versions for 11 countries and India is not one of them, so in India plan on Search campaigns with call assets.
  • New call ads can no longer be created since February 2026; put your number on responsive search ads as a call asset and schedule it for the hours someone answers.
  • Target a radius your technicians can reach (Google’s minimum is 1 km), use the Presence option for local-only work, and exclude areas you don’t cover.
  • Block job, course, poster and how-to searches, keep ads clear of tech-support wording, and never imply you are a camera or appliance brand’s authorised partner.

What does Google Ads for home services and CCTV installers look like?

It is a Search campaign built around phone calls. Each trade gets its own ad group and page, call assets run only in working hours, the location target matches where technicians can reach, and negative keywords block people looking for jobs, courses or free how-to help.

Someone who needs a plumber for a burst pipe, or a CCTV installer after a theft on their street, searches with a phone in hand, often with “near me” or a locality name, and usually calls the first business that looks genuine and close. The searches differ by trade, but the shape of a working campaign is the same. Whether you are looking up Google Ads for electricians, for plumbers, for pest control or for cleaning services, only the keywords, the page and the hours change.

TradeExample searchesWhat the caller wants firstMain conversion
CCTV installationcctv camera installation near me, cctv installation for shop, cctv installation quoteA site visit and a written quoteCall or survey booking
Electricianelectrician near me, house wiring electrician, electrician sector 57Someone who can come todayCall
Plumberplumber near me, tap leakage repair, bathroom fitting plumberA visit within hoursCall
Pest controlpest control near me, termite treatment for home, cockroach control serviceTreatment type, safety for children and pets, a slotCall or WhatsApp
Home cleaningdeep cleaning service, sofa cleaning at home, bathroom cleaning serviceWhat is included and a dateWhatsApp or booking form
RO servicero service near me, ro filter change, ro installationA visit, with parts charged clearlyCall

Electricians and plumbers mostly get urgent calls. CCTV, pest control and deep cleaning are planned purchases with a survey, a quote or a booked date, so a WhatsApp button and a short form earn their place next to the call button.

Are Google Local Services Ads available in India?

Not as far as Google’s own help pages show. Google’s Local Services Ads getting-started page offers versions for Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States, and India is not in that list. Google says to check your business eligibility to see if they are available in your area.

Local Services Ads are a separate product from normal Google Ads. Google’s Local Services Ads overview describes ads that show your business profile, services, service area, hours and reviews, where you only pay when a customer gets in touch from the ad, plus a Google Verified badge for businesses that pass its checks. Many articles on Google Ads for plumbers assume this product exists; in India, skip those parts.

What home-service businesses here can use is a regular Search campaign with call assets, location assets linked to a Google Business Profile, and a landing page that does the job a Local Services listing would do: services, areas covered, hours, reviews and a call button. The rest of this guide sets that up.

How do you build a call-led campaign with call assets?

Add your phone number to responsive search ads as a call asset, schedule it for the hours someone answers, turn on call reporting and count calls of a set length as conversions. Call ads are being retired, so don’t build around them.

Google’s call ads page says all options to create new call ads were removed in February 2026, and existing call ads will stop receiving impressions in February 2027. Google’s advice is to add phone numbers to responsive search ads as call assets. If an older account still runs call ads, move them now.

On a phone, a call asset adds a call button under the ad. On a computer, Google shows a “Call us” button that reveals the number and a QR code that opens the phone’s dialler. Call assets can be set to show only on certain days and hours, which matters for a small team: a call button at 11 PM that nobody answers wastes the click and the customer.

  1. Create one ad group per trade or service, with the service and the area in at least one headline.
  2. Add a call asset with the number your team answers, and set its schedule under advanced options to your working hours.
  3. Set the campaign’s ad schedule as well. Google says campaigns show ads “All day” by default; you can choose days and hours, or raise and lower bids for them.
  4. Turn on call reporting so ad calls go through a Google forwarding number. Google’s call reporting page lists India among the countries where forwarding numbers are available.
  5. Count calls above a minimum length as conversions, so a two-second misdial does not show up as a lead.
  6. Add location assets linked to your Google Business Profile, so the ad can show your address, distance and a call button.
  7. Put a WhatsApp button and a short booking form on the landing page for planned jobs such as CCTV surveys or deep cleaning.

One India-specific detail matters here. Google’s call reporting page says call details include the caller’s phone number for calls over 15 seconds, except in India, and that caller ID may show a Google number instead of the caller’s on some calls in India. Ask whoever picks up to note the caller’s own number and the job they asked about, or you will struggle to call back missed leads and match calls to booked work.

How wide should the radius be for a home-service business?

Draw the target around where technicians can reach in reasonable time, not around the whole city. Google allows radius targeting of at least 1 km around a location, but warns that a very small target may make ads show only intermittently or not at all.

Google’s location targeting page says radius targeting suits a local business whose customer base is within a radius around the business, while chosen areas suit a business serving particular neighbourhoods. For home services, travel time decides profit: an electrician who crosses Gurgaon in evening traffic for a small job loses most of the day.

By default, Google’s advanced location options reach people in or regularly in your areas as well as people who have shown interest in them. A plumber who can only visit nearby homes usually wants the “Presence” option alone, so someone in another city reading about your area does not see a call button for a visit you cannot make. Then exclude areas inside the circle that you don’t serve. Google notes that people located outside your excluded areas may still see your ads.

Business (example)Sensible targetExclude or split
CCTV installer based in a village near JhajjarA radius around the base that covers nearby villages and the district townA separate campaign for school, shop-market or factory projects over a wider area, with its own budget
Electrician or plumber working from Sohna Road, GurgaonA few kilometres around the base, or a set of nearby sectorsSectors the team rarely reaches in peak traffic
Pest control or deep cleaning team covering Gurgaon and FaridabadNamed cities or areasOne campaign per city, so budgets and schedules can differ
RO service with two techniciansA radius around where each technician starts the dayPause an area when its technician is on leave

Let budgets follow the season instead of staying flat. Pest, damp and leakage problems tend to rise with the monsoon, and CCTV enquiries often pick up after thefts in a neighbourhood. Shift budget and schedules when demand moves, and pull back when it falls.

Do home-service ads need service-area pages?

Yes. Send each ad group to a page about that exact service, and add area pages only where you really work. A page that answers “cctv installation for shop” or “termite treatment for home” turns more clicks into calls than a home page listing everything you do.

  • The job, in the searcher’s words: “CCTV installation for homes and shops”, not a company slogan.
  • Areas covered: the sectors, towns or villages you visit, and how soon a technician can usually come, if you can keep to it.
  • How the visit is charged: whether there is a visit or inspection charge, whether you quote before starting, and how parts are billed. Google’s Misrepresentation policy does not allow failing to clearly disclose the full expense a customer will bear.
  • Proof: photos of your own work, your Google reviews and any trade licence you actually hold.
  • Contact: a call button, a WhatsApp button and a short form near the top, with working hours shown.

Area pages should add something real for each place: which localities you cover, the kind of buildings you work in (society flats, shops, farmhouses), access or parking notes and the same contact options. Copying one page and changing only the town name gives visitors nothing new. For CCTV, a page per job type (home, shop, office, society, farm) often works better than a page per sector. Our own CCTV installation page for Kasni and nearby villages is built this way: camera types compared, the villages served, a free site survey and a written quote before work starts. If your site can’t take pages like these, see our website development in Gurgaon service.

Which negative keywords should CCTV and home-service ads block?

Block searches for jobs, training, how-to help, posters and wholesale lists before the campaign starts, then add more from the search terms report every week. Home-service keywords attract many people who want to become a technician rather than hire one.

Google’s own search suggestions show the problem. Next to “cctv camera installation near me”, people search “how to become a cctv installer”, “how to learn cctv camera installation” and “cctv camera advertisement poster”. None of them will book a visit, and each click costs the same as a real customer’s.

TradeNegatives to start withWatch before blocking

Google’s negative keywords page says negative keywords don’t match to close variants, so add plurals and common spellings yourself: “course” and “courses”, “job” and “jobs”. Google also warns that too many negatives can make your ads reach fewer customers, which is why words like “price” belong in the watch column until the search terms report shows what those searchers want. Our guide to negative keywords, match types and lists shows how to keep these in one shared list across campaigns.

What do Google’s ad policies mean for CCTV installers and home services?

Three Google policies need care: third-party consumer technical support, Misrepresentation and Trademarks. Write ads about the work you do, under your own business name, and keep tech-support and brand-authorisation wording out of both the ad and the page.

Google’s third-party consumer technical support policy says technical support for consumer technology products and online services offered by third-party providers is not allowed. Its examples, which Google calls non-exhaustive, include troubleshooting for security, internet connectivity, password resets or login support, installations and maintenance, plus hardware repair services and software installations. The page does not mention security cameras or CCTV by name. It allows advertising the sale of consumer technology, and technical support services provided exclusively to businesses.

The page does not say whether supplying and fitting a camera system counts as tech support. The safer reading for a CCTV installer is to lead with the systems you supply and install, site surveys and quotes, and to keep out phrases such as “CCTV app login help”, “camera password reset” or “DVR repair helpline”. Google’s fix list for this policy says to remove mentions of repair services, hardware repairs, software installation or technical support from the ads and landing page. The policy page also says Google gives a warning at least 7 days before suspending an account for this policy. If you plan ads for camera repair or maintenance alone, ask Google Ads support before launch.

Mobile, laptop and computer repair falls under the hardware repair example, so we don’t run Google Ads for it; our guide for mobile and laptop repair shops covers the alternatives. For AC and appliance work, read our appliance repair Google Ads guide and check Google’s current policy pages before any campaign goes live.

Brand names need the same care. The Misrepresentation policy does not allow making it seem you are supported by another brand when you are not, and Google treats such violations as egregious: accounts are suspended upon detection and without prior warning. A local installer or RO technician must not call itself a brand’s “authorised service centre” unless it has that authorisation. Google’s Trademarks policy says it won’t restrict trademarks used as keywords, but a trademark owner can complain about its name in your ad text, and Google may then restrict that use.

How do you know which calls turn into booked jobs?

Count calls, WhatsApp taps and form submissions as conversions in Google Ads, then keep a simple log of which enquiries became paid jobs. Cost per lead tells you what an enquiry costs; the log tells you which trade, area and hour actually pays.

  • Calls from ads: call reporting with a minimum call length counted as a conversion.
  • Calls from the website: a tracked number on the landing page, or a tracked tap on the phone link.
  • WhatsApp and forms: click and submission conversions, tested before launch.
  • Booked jobs: a daily sheet or CRM entry with date, time, caller number, service, area and whether it became a job.

The log fills the gap in Indian call details mentioned above and shows patterns no dashboard will. One area may book well while another rings only to compare prices. Move budget, hours and areas towards what books. Our conversion tracking guide for calls, WhatsApp and forms walks through each setup step by step.

How DVM Techno can help

Our Google Ads team works from Sector 84, Gurgaon, and we run our own CCTV installation service around Kasni, Jhajjar, so missed calls, travel time and site surveys are familiar ground. We plan, set up and manage campaigns for home-service and repair businesses: one ad group per service, call and location assets on a working-hours schedule, a tight service area and negative keyword lists from day one. We write the ads, build landing pages where needed and set up call, WhatsApp and form tracking correctly.

We run A/B tests on audiences, creatives and bids, aiming for more enquiries at a lower cost per lead, and you get weekly reports on clicks, leads and cost per lead, plus a monthly review call. Ad spend is paid directly to Google, separately from our fee. If you already run ads, start with a free audit within 48 hours that shows where the budget goes. See our Google Ads for repair and home services page for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Google Local Services Ads available in India?

Google’s Local Services Ads help pages offer versions for Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US, and India is not listed. Google says to check your business eligibility for your area. Until Google lists India, home-service businesses here should plan on regular Search campaigns with call assets, location assets and a clear service page.

Can a CCTV installer run Google Ads?

Google’s policy pages don’t name CCTV, but the third-party consumer technical support policy disallows tech support, installations, maintenance and hardware repair for consumer technology, while allowing the sale of consumer technology and support provided only to businesses. Lead with systems you supply and fit, avoid helpline or repair-only wording, never imply a brand’s authorisation, and check with Google Ads support when unsure.

Should home service businesses use call ads or call assets?

Use call assets. Google removed the option to create new call ads in February 2026, and existing call ads stop receiving impressions in February 2027. A call asset adds a call button under your responsive search ad on phones and a “Call us” button on computers, and you can schedule it for the hours when someone is there to answer the phone.

What negative keywords should CCTV installation ads use?

Start with jobs, vacancy, salary, course, training, institute, how to, become, learn, DIY, poster, template, advertisement, price list, wholesale, distributor and dealership. Watch price and charges in the search terms report before blocking them, because some of those searchers still want a camera fitted. Add plurals yourself, since Google says negative keywords don’t match close variants.

How big a radius should a plumber or electrician target?

Target the area your technicians can reach in reasonable time, often a few kilometres around the base or a set of nearby sectors. Google’s minimum radius is 1 km, and it warns that very small targets may show ads only intermittently or not at all. Use the Presence option for local-only work and exclude areas inside the circle you don’t cover.
